Kindles are Kool!

Le Jardin Academy’s library receives two new Kindles! Kindles are electronical devices which store thousands of books. One will be dedicated to the high school students and the other to the middle school. They are safely kept in the library under Mrs. Keogh, the librarian’s, watch. Our school was fortunate enough to receive funding for the Kindles by Mr. Allen. These Kindles are an amazing technological advancement for Le Jardin Academy.
To obtain a Kindle, students must get the permission form signed by their parents. This form states that if the Kindle is lost, or damaged in any way, the student who was responsible for it that week will take full responsibility for its replacement. Students are chosen from a hat on Friday of each week, and they are allowed to take it home over the weekend, but it must be returned by the following Friday. When the student turns it in to Mrs. Keogh, they will take a short survey pertaining to their experience and thoughts about the Kindle.
They are very slender, and have a surface area very similar to that of a composition book. “They are very light,” Mrs. Keogh says. The ten to twelve books which are already on them are all fiction. If there are new books on-line, then the librarian is able to download them for the students. The Kindles are able to read aloud, and have a built in dictionary. Mrs. Keogh’s biggest hope is that they will be kept in a safe place while they are being borrowed.
The Kindle which is dedicated to the high school, might, in the future even have some form of college preparatory section on it. No plans are made yet for the Kindles to head in this direction, but because LJA is determined to set its students on the college path, this would certainly be a high-tech stepping stone.
Le Jardin Academy is recognized as being a top-notch college preparatory school. It is only fitting that the students belonging to LJA get a feel for what is used in college classrooms. Mrs. Keogh found an article in the newspaper, which said that many ”colleges are starting to use them.” Technology is progressing every day and LJA is keeping up with the latest trends, thanks in part to our awesome new Kindles!

Don’t let your mind dwindle guys get yourself a kindle!
Kindles are the coolest thing ever. I would now never go anywhere without my beautiful, slim, white and light Kindle. It is such a pleasure to finally be able to take all the books I want to read on a trip without ending up with a sore shoulder. I cannot wait until you students do not have to lug around those heavy textbooks and can have everything you need on a Kindle. What will we all do with all those huge backpacks?
