The boys are back!  Boy Varsity Basketball is now in session.  For the past couple of years, the boys basketball team has been on the verge of greatness, but have ended with disappointing finishes in the playoffs.  The 2007-2008 season was the first time that Varsity Basketball finished the season without a losing record and last year was about the same with the team winning about half of its games.

This year, though, could potentially be the year when they take the next step.  With four returning starters and a handful of young up-and-coming talent, great things can be expected from this group.  The four returning starters, Taylor Gray, Kalani Soeda, Tevin Togami, and John Whitty, have spent three years on varsity and are primed to lead this team.  The rest of the team includes, Kelvin Akamine, Sean McWhinne, Joshua Kava, Mann Kerbaj, Sam Spengler, Frankie Mantalvo, Ikaika Hoskins, Davante Newsome, and Brad Fuller.  The first practice was on November 30th  and their first preseason game is on December 10th at the Pete Smith Tournament at Kalaheo High School.  Many of this year’s games will be held here at our own Charles B. Wang Gym, so be sure to come out and show your support for our boys! Check our Sports Center page for the full season schedule and results from each game.
