At the beginning of the 2009-10 varsity basketball season, the team’s main goal was to make it to the state tournament. At the beginning of the season, the team traveled to Kauai in December to participate in the 5th Annual Kapa’a Tournament. They also held the First Annual Le Jardin Invitational Basketball Tournament. The basketball team, led by Coach Olaso and assisted by Coach Sean, recently hit the half way mark of the season, currently leading the ILH Division 2 with a record of 5-2.
The team has recently suffered two disappointing losses to Christian Academy and Hawaii Baptist Academy. However; in an underdog victory, the team has defeated the heavily favored Iolani team. During a team huddle, Headmaster Adrian Allen told the team that “[The Christian Academy game] was one of the most exciting LJA games he has ever seen.” It was unfortunate that LJA lost to a buzzer beating 3-pointer at the end of the double overtime period.
Please come support our varsity bulldog basketball team and encourage them on their hopes for the state tournament. Schedules of games can be found in front of the gym or on the Sports Center section of our website.
