Surfing has spread around the world like a highly contagious plague infecting anyone who dares to try it. Just last year our school became infected with this remarkable plague. Mr. Webb, currently an amazing and enthusiastic teacher here at Le Jardin, decided to create a Surf Team which would compete in the Hawaii Surfing Association against many other schools across Oahu.
Last year was an incredible way to introduce the Surf Team to the Le Jardin community. One of the team’s main competitors, Travis Parke said, “I was stoked on the fact that the HSA had three divisions to compete in, including short board, long board, and body board. It is pretty sick to be a small school and still dominate in all three categories, and Mr. Webb is the man.” Mahea Schuman, when asked what she thought about the Le Jardin Surf Team answered, “I wish I was good enough to surf competitively.” That is what is so great about the surf team; you can join just to have fun. It is just a great atmosphere to have fun.
The Le Jardin Surf Team will soon be back in the water if anyone is interested in competing, or if you just want to learn to surf. Surf Team will be having weekly meetings at 12:30 to 1:30 on “N” days in Mr. Webb’s room. Stop by to learn about surfing and check out some insane footage that will be shown. Aloha!
