13 years ago Leonardo DiCaprio catapulted to stardom with the cinematic blockbuster Titanic and the $1.8 billion that was raked in as a result of it.  Since then, DiCaprio’s definitely had his fair share of box-office hits with The Aviator (2004), The Departed (2006), Blood Diamond (2006), and Shutter Island (2010).  However, it is his latest release Inception, which released on July 16, 2010, that is still causing buzz amongst movie-goers alike.

13 months and a budget of $160 million later, Inception hit theaters and immediately sent viewers on a whirlwind adventure.  Leonardo DiCaprio, alongside a very strong supporting cast, plays Dom Cobb, a professional thief charged with the task of leading a team on a mission to implant an idea within an heir to a business empire (played by Cilian Murphy).  Ellen Page is Ariadne, the Architect, a graduate student whose job is to construct the settings and worlds in which the dreams take place, while Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays Arthur, the Point Man.  Arthur’s responsibility is gaining information on the targets of their missions.  Ken Watanabe, Marion Cotillard, Tom Hardy and Michael Caine round out the rest of this cast as the characters Saito, Mal Cobb, Eames, and Miles, Dom Cobb’s father-in-law.

To say that this movie was mind-blowing would almost be an understatement.  The graphics were like nothing ever imagined (like the city folding in upon itself!?) and all actors were key players in the success of this movie.  All of the team sold their parts as they took on what seemed to be the impossible.

When LJA students were asked about their thoughts on the conception of inception ever becoming a reality, senior student Eric Kroll mentioned, “It seemed possible…the way they explained it,” while fellow senior Shaun Millar seemed to think otherwise.  He stated, “No, but it’s nice to think about.  I think it’s possible to maybe see a dream, but not go into it.”  Most of those asked also thought the three main characters (DiCaprio, Page, and Gordon-Levitt) to be their favorites.  Comically Shaun Millar replied, “The guy who got the girl to kiss him…he was the funniest.”  And with little doubt it was Joseph Gordon Levitt (Arthur) who probably struck a chord with a lot of viewers for this memorable kiss with Ellen Page.
